If you are looking for ways to express Tikkum Olam check out the 12/11/09 issue of the URJ’s Weekly Briefing. There are nine ways to “Give the Gift of Social Justice for Chanukah”, created by the Religious Action Center for Reform Judaism. They include; Adopt a US Service person (don’t forget that TBS is doing this too through our unit adoption – contact Monica Engel at sovta11@cox.net for more information), Nothing But Nets, Carbon Offsets, The Gift of Tikkun Olam, Donate Blood, Fair Trade Coffee, Vacation at a Labor-Friendly Hotel, Community Supported Agriculture, and Sweat-Free Clothing. Proudly TBS has yearly supported blood donations through Sisterhood and Nothing But Nets last year through Jocee Hudson, former Religious School Director.
If any of these worthy causes touches your heart consider getting your family and friends involved. Let us know what else you are doing to serve your community, and which cause you are committing to in 2010. Share your experiences here on the blog!
Just a little caring…..
