Community Health Update

In a quickly changing situation, TBS’s focus is on the safety and health of our community. While we are not aware of any potential coronavirus infection at TBS, we continue to remain vigilant and committed to following the CD recommended guidelines.

As a synagogue, we are proud to provide a physical space where each one of us feels safe and welcomed to participate. During this challenging time, we have had difficult discussions around how we continue to practice our faith in a healthy way. While we hope to return to our “normal” way of operating, we have made some adjustments over the next few days (and potentially weeks). As the situation evolves, we will continue to communicate with and update you.

In light of the situation, and through an abundance of caution (especially for those in the more vulnerable categories) we have chosen to cancel or postpone a number of programs as well as offer some classes through Zoom (an online platform). We have made these decisions with the best interests of our members in mind. Shabbat Services this Friday will be livestreamed, as well as on-site for those who wish to join in person. As a reminder, for the safety of our community if you not feeling well, we invite you to join us remotely.

ACCESS ZOOM

Due to the serious nature of the COVID-19 virus, we have taken the following steps since:
  • Preschool will be closed through March 27. As the situation changes, we will continue to monitor and update as needed.
  • Religious School will be closed Sunday and Tuesday (then they are off for break and will return beginning April 19th)
  • The facility will go dark and programs have been cancelled, unless otherwise noted that they will be offered remotely through Zoom (an online platform). We will continue to update you regarding our remote offerings. We understand that this is a change from our usual operating procedure. If you have an upcoming program and have not already been contacted, we will be contacting you.

Programs that will currently be held remotely:
March 13, 20 and 27- Shabbat Services
March 14, 21 and 28- Weekly Torah Study

While our staff will be working remotely- as always, the Temple will continue to provide support to our members and community. Due to building access being restricted to staff, if there is anything you need in the building, please contact Ruth Irving at rirving@tbs-oc.org to make arrangements.

We will continue to update you regarding the closure, programs and any updates or changes. This is an unprecedented time and we appreciate your support and patience during this period.

Should you need any clergy support, don’t hesitate to contact Rabbi Cohen at rabbicohen@tbs-oc.org

Thank you for your patience as we navigate this challenging environment one day at a time. For further information please refer to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and the World Health Organization for the most up-to-date information about the coronavirus and COVID-19.

We will continue to update you via our email and social media channels as the situation evolves. Stay healthy. The whole world may seem like a very narrow bridge, but we will cross it safely and together.
