Echoes of Elul, Day 16: Reflections from the Lake

by Caron Winston

As I sit at the edge of the lake and watch a family of ducks and a family of loons swim around looking for food, I think about all the people who are also looking for their next meal. Many of us are fortunate to have no worries about where our next meal might come from – our pantries and refrigerators are well-stocked. None of our children are going to bed hungry, but many families have hungry children. With school starting again, these children will be fed twice a day but what about the others in their family? How can we help? If we all pitch in to support a local food kitchen or homeless shelter, none of the ducks or loons will go hungry. Please help!
