That morning of June 14, 2021, when I received an email from Mitch Cohen asking me to chair the Settled Rabbi Search Committee, was the beginning of something new for me. I have been on many TBS committees, over the years, but I have never been responsible for something so monumentally important. I really struggled with the decision (Would it be too time consuming? Did I have what it took to get the job done?)
In the end, I decided to accept the challenge, as the temple is so important to me and my family, and I wanted nothing more than to see us hire the right Rabbi to help us move forward.
I took on the responsibility of finding our next Senior Rabbi very seriously, as it was so vital to the future of the TBS community. I was so very fortunate to have put together such a fantastic committee. Together, after a lot of careful work and study, we were able to find Rabbi Sobel. We feel so fortunate to have connected with Rabbi Sobel and to have her leadership, her spirituality and her guidance, as we undertake a new beginning.
I very much look forward to these High Holy Days and to being with my family and my TBS family, under the spiritual leadership of our new Rabbi. To New Beginnings! L ’Shannah Tovah!
