Now that we’ve gotten our dessert, it’s time for lunch! We stopped at a small shopping center in Katzrin for falafel or shwarma. The falafel seller was a particularly outgoing person.
As tourists (and American tourists at that) it’s easy for us to believe that the entire country is working for our enjoyment. However, Mike told us that because of the increase in technological innovation and Teva (not the shoes) generic pharmaceuticals and such, tourism is now only 5% of Israel’s economy.
Now well fed, we made a trek to a new discovery of Rabbi Cohen’s (or more accurately her parents), to the home of Batina and Rami Naaman. They moved out to Northern Gallilee and designed and built a very special house with reflections of ancient history in it. Afterwards we participated in a wine tasting and education downstairs in the Na’aman winery that they run.
Everyone got a chance to taste and more than a few of us bought some bottles to bring back!
So enjoying reading this blog. I will have to go on one of these trips eventually. Especially one with all the wine stops.
