For 20 years he has been studying how individuals and groups come to embrace and sustain lives organized around violence and hate. Much of his research has been funded by the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, and other groups. He is author of the award winning book “American Swastika: Inside the White Power Movement’s Hidden Spaces of Hate. He has been seen on the PBS show Frontline and The Larry King show.
