This year, the month of January is our "Month of Mitzvot" where we aim to do as many mitzvot (loosely translated to "good deed") as we can. There are plenty of opportunities to participate and do a mitzvah with TBS, but we also encourage you to a mitzvah whenever you see the opportunity. As we work towards tikkun olam, we invite you to join us at the different events below.

Rise Against Hunger

Other ways to participate in the Month of Mitzvot

Spend some time focusing on our elderly population. We invite to join TBS members to read books and play games at Bubbe & Zayde's Place on Sundays in January. Can't join us at Bubbe & Zayde's House? Try baking something sweet, or taking a bouquet of flowers to an older or ill person in your neighborhood.

For more information about visiting Bubbe & Zayde's Place, email Alan Shebroe at alan53@earthlink.net

TBS will be hosting the Red Cross for a blood drive on Sunday, January 26th running concurrent with our Rise Against Hunger, so it could be a double mitzvah for doing both!

If you're participating in Mitzvah Day, please schedule your appointment for before 9:30am or after 12:00pm.

Questions about donating blood or signing up? Call Michele Shugarman at (714) 206-6166 or Joy Shebroe at (909) 594-3544.

TBS Early Childhood Center and Religious School will be hosting a stuffed animal drive throughout the month of January. Bring your new or gently used stuffed animals so we can send them to local law enforcement and shelters across the county who help families who have experienced emergencies.

Please deposit your donations in the drop off bin in the Winston Family Living Room between 1/5-2/2.

Questions about the drive? Call the TBS Office at (714) 628-4600.

Join us at TBS on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 4:00 6:00pm to make frozen meals for those on our mi sheberach or shiva lists.

Can't join us in person? Freeze a soup or casserole for someone you know that might have their hands full from a new baby, are grieving the loss of a loved one, or someone you know that could use a good meal. You can also make a dish and bring it to TBS next time you come by.

For more information about participating, email Steffanie Belasco at steffaniebelasco@gmail.com.

Rabbi Sobel will be teaching a class in the spring and we encourage you to join us. Stay tuned for details and sign up.

Monica's Mitzvah Meals, named in memory of our beloved friend and founder of the Mitzvah Meals program, Monica Engel, has been running for nearly 15 years at TBS. The goal is to provide a hot meal to to those with food insecurities in our community. Currently we meet twice a month (usually the 3rd & 4th Sundays).

For more information about participating, email Steffanie Belasco at steffaniebelasco@gmail.com or Hollis O'Brien at hollis@partiesbypanache.com
