This year, the month of January is our "Month of Mitzvot" where we aim to do as many mitzvot (loosely translated to "good deed") as we can. There are plenty of opportunities to participate and do a mitzvah with TBS, but we also encourage you to a mitzvah whenever you see the opportunity. As we work towards tikkun olam, we invite you to join us at the different events below.

Rise Against Hunger

Learn with the Rabbi

Rabbi Sobel will be teaching a class in the spring and we encourage you to join us. Stay tuned for details and sign up.

Seriously Seniors

Spend some time focusing on our elderly population. We invite to join TBS members to read books and play games at  Bubbie & Zayde's House on Sundays in January (RSVP coming soon), bake something sweet, or take a bouquet of flowers to an older or ill person in your neighborhood.

Chicken Soup for the Soul

Freeze a soup or casserole for someone you know that might have their hands full from a new baby, are grieving the loss of a loved one, or someone you know that could use a good meal. You can also join us at TBS to make frozen meals for those on our mi sheberach or shiva lists.

Monica's Mitzvah Meals

Monica's Mitzvah Meals, named in memory of our beloved friend and founder of the Mitzvah Meals program, Monica Engel, has been running for nearly 15 years at TBS. The goal is to provide a hot meal to to those with food insecurities in our community. Currently we meet twice a month (usually the 3rd & 4th Sundays). Sign up here.

Red Cross Blood Drive

TBS will be hosting the Red Cross for a blood drive on Sunday, January 26th running concurrent with our Rise Against Hunger, so it could be a double mitzvah for doing both! Registration coming soon.

S.A.F.E.

TBS Early Childhood Center and Religious School will be hosting a stuffed animal drive for S.A.F.E. (Stuffed Animals for Emergencies) throughout the month of January. Bring your new or gently used stuffed animals so we can send them to law enforcement officers across the country who help families who have experienced emergencies.
