Relief for Haiti

The News from Haiti has touched all of us and we ask, what can we do to help? The numbers of those in need are beyond comprehension. In the past we have always come together as a Jewish community to reach out in times of disaster, as our tradition teaches to us reach out to all of those in need.

Now is the time for us to reach out to help!

There are a number of organizations who are seeking donations and assistance. Here are three within the Jewish Community that I share with you and ask that you please contribute in any way you can. Let us play a role together in the recovery efforts as well as pray for healing for all of those whose homes and lives have been destroyed.

The following Jewish Organizations are responding – please join with these important efforts:

Union for Reform Judaism

American Jewish World Services

American Joint Distribution Committee

Hi this is Sam and I am in the Confirmation Class at Temple Beth Sholom. I’m on the Dance Team at Foothill High School and we wanted to do someting to help the earthquake victims in Haiti! Tomorrow, Saturday January 16, from 12 noon to 1230 we are collecting blankets and sleeping bags to send to Haiti. Look for me by the brown SUV parked on the street next to the lacrosse field at Foothill High School(across the street from Hewes Middle School) Or, on Sunday January 17 from 10 am to 1030 you can find us in the Temple Beth Sholom parking lot! Blankets and sleeping bags should be new or gently used. Please help!
    -Sam 🙂

Hello, I wanted to make everyone aware that Sport Chalet, the sporting goods store, is collecting shoes for the people of Haiti. They have collection bins labeled “Soles 4 Souls” located inside each store. Sport Chalet is collecting until January, 31, 2010.
